Devlog 3: Finished Prototype


Wow, week 4 already? Time really flies when you're having a blast, huh? Sadly, it's time to wrap up our prototyping phase and gear up for something even cooler – the production sprints!

To prepare ourselves we've sorted out all sorts of documents to keep us on track as a team. But let’s show you guys something more interesting – how about a sneak peek into our art bible?

Now, if you’ve been tagging along with us on this wild ride, you're probably itching to know about our final theme and characters, right? Well, wait no longer!

The Character

It’s now time to meet the stars of our game- say hello to Chonky and Squishy our brave dwarfs:

Chonky (current concept)


Chonky is a strong dwarf lady. She has the muscle to carry the heavy pickaxe needed for mining the ore. Her job is it to give Squishy all the coal he needs to keep the furnace running and at the same time use her crossbow to defend him against those ugly spiders that come crawling from the deeps of the dungeon.

Squishy on the other hand is a very thin and athletic built character. Hes sadly not strong enough to swing those heavy mining tools but he is light on his feet and quite a capable runner.

The Environment

These guys are miners, and today's job is tougher than usual – the elevator which is the only entrance to the dungeon broke down, leaving them stuck. And let me tell you, those mines aren't exactly welcoming. There are some unfriendly creatures lurking about, and they're not happy to be disturbed!


Now, fixing an elevator might sound simple, but it's far from it. The parts they need are scattered all over the place, hidden in the shadows where those creatures like to hide.

But wait, it's not done yet! Have a look at the concept that finalized the setting idea:


Furthering this final concepting stage, we made a test with placeholder meshes for the scaling of ennmies. How would high should the level of details be and how big should they be in regards to the players was the issues we solved.


In terms of gameplay, we finally implemented dual controller support. The players can now take damage from the enemies and die, so be careful! The player on the top can shoot now. The map is now also much smaller, but the victory condition pickups are scattered among rocks on the ground, so the player at the bottom has to go exploring while the top player protects him and gives him coal to fuel the fire.

So the story is told, and now it's up to you to help our duo out of this mess. Find the missing parts and fix the elevator, all while keeping an eye out for those dangerous creatures. Because in this game, teamwork is everything!
